Quick facts about electricity in Wyoming

  • Wyoming ranks 36th in the nation in terms of the average price of electricity for homes. 
  • Wyoming is the nation’s largest coal producer, mining more than three times as much as the next highest producer, West Virginia.  
  • Wyoming produced about 40 percent of all coal mined in the United States in 2016, and accounts for about one-third of total U.S. coal reserves. 
  • Wind power has increased rapidly in Wyoming in the last decade and now accounts for about 10 percent of the state's electricity generation.
