Let’s face it: A lot of energy legislation produces political debates. But a recent Colorado bill received widespread support.
House Bill 14-1030, which passed the Colorado Legislature easily, will streamline the approval process for small hydroelectric power projects. It’s designed to dovetail with a recent federal law, which also earned bipartisan support. Hydroelectric power helped bring electricity to the West and it’s still a major source of renewable energy.
The bill was signed by Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper in Montrose on May 31. Learn more about the bill from the Telluride Daily Planet.
